I never realised that a lot of people did not know how to extract zips that have been split up into parts. I apologise for the inconvenience, allow me to explain why I do so and then I'll give some tips on how to overcome errors.
Manually selecting files to ensure they have approximately the same file size is time consuming & extremely tedious and ensures I lose the will to create very quickly. Which is why I use
jZip.
jZip supports many different file formats and compression methods, plus it's free to use. I highly recommend using this nifty piece of software as it is far more advanced than the extraction tool that comes with Windows XP and above.
Unfortunately, the extraction tool bundled with Windows will not extract split archives. I have no idea why it doesn't support it because the technology was there before XP was released. I guess that's just Microsoft for you, useful as a chocolate teapot.
I am really sorry for the problems my zips are causing but I either continue how I am or I just stop. I don't mean to sound brash but I'd rather spend my time creating than zipping.
Anyway, try
jZip. I can assure that it compresses and extracts a lot faster than
WinRAR,
WinZIP or Windows Extraction Tool, it is not as memory intensive or hogs as much disk space either.
When you download my scraps, unless it's tagger size it is most likely to be split into parts. Do not rename them and try to extract individually, all you'll acheive is corrupting the files.
All parts should be downloaded to the same location, once they all are then using
jZip or any other extraction tool that supports parts, only click to extract the first and the rest will follow suit automatically.
I do hope this helps to fix any issues that have cropped up.
